CAR0040 Support Cable Replacement
1/ Close the door and pull on one of the cables and
rotate the central spring drum until all four holes in the spring drum &
mounting bracket line up with each other, then place a 6" nail (or
similar pin) up through these holes from the underside to prevent the drum from rotating and
hold back the spring tension while you carry out out the following
procedure.
2/ Remove the bottom fixing screw from the vertical
track and remove the cable from the roller spindle, unhook the other end
of the cable from the pulley on the top of the spring drum and fit the new
cable. Replace the second cable in the same way.
Note: The cable pulley on the top of the spring drum has separate grooves
for the left and right cables, each groove has an anchoring slot for the
cable nipple.
3/ Check that both the new cables are routed correctly
over the pulleys then apply tension to one of the cables and rotate the
central spring drum to enable the 4" nail (or similar pin) to be removed
Note: It is important that support cables are a matched length so we
recommend both are replaced as a pair.
CAR0080 Roller Spindle Replacement
Before replacing the side rollers you
will first need relax the tension on the cables by following step 1/
above. Remove the bottom
fixing screws from the vertical tracks on both sides of the door,
remove the roller spindle fixing nuts, pull the door clear of the
vertical tracks and slide-out the old roller spindles, transfer the
support cables onto the new CAR0080 roller spindles and re-fit in
reverse order, replace the track fixing screws & finally pull on
one of the cables to rotate the central spring drum to allow some
slack, then remove the 4" nail (or similar pin) you placed through the
holes in the drum earlier.
Oil the roller spindles on
installation and again at 12 month intervals
